​Presented as part of the Kirra Longboard Klassic, Waves of Expression brings together established and emerging photographers and artists to exhibit powerful, surf-inspired works. Awards Presentation Afternoon

We are pleased to announce acclaimed Queensland artist Col McElwaine as the official judge. McElwaine has been recognised as a finalist in the Archibald Prize.

Winners will be announced as part of the Kirra Longboard Klassic closing ceremony, recognising outstanding artistic achievement across multiple categories.

People’s Choice Award

Visitors are invited to vote for their favourite artwork or photograph with a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go directly to a designated local charity.

Silent Art Auction – The Eagle Is Back V2

Art lovers and collectors will have the opportunity to bid on an original oil painting by renowned surf artist Dave Sturmer, titled The Eagle Is Back V2.

This stunning original work will be offered through a silent auction throughout the event, with bids accepted at the Waves of Expression Surf Art & Photography Exhibition.

The auction will close on Sunday, 2 August 2026, with the winning bid announced during the Kirra Longboard Klassic Presentation Ceremony.
