Our Story
What is the Kirra Longboard Klassic?

The Kirra Longboard Klassic was born from a simple idea – bring people together at Kirra to share waves, tell stories and celebrate the joy of longboarding.

Kirra is more than just a point on the map. It’s where generations of surfers have learned, grown and chased their best waves. The Klassic honours this history while looking forward, inviting new surfers and families to make their own memories at Kirra.

From day one, the event has been run by surfers, for surfers. Volunteers, local businesses, artists, musicians and community groups all play a role in bringing the Klassic to life. That’s why our focus is on good vibes, connection and respect in and out of the water.

The heart of the event is the Macca Memorial “Surfer Having the Most Fun” Trophy. Named in honour of much-loved local surfer Macca, it reminds us what matters most – enjoying the ride, supporting your mates and sharing the stoke.

Each year, the Kirra Longboard Klassic continues to grow with new divisions, music, art, adaptive surfing, environmental activation's and more. What hasn’t changed is the feeling when you look down the beach and see a perfect Kirra line-up filled with family, friends and future friends.
